Computing

INTENT

To ensure all pupils:

  •  receive a relevant, challenging and enjoyable Computing curriculum;
  •  use computing as a tool to enhance learning throughout the curriculum;
  •  are given opportunities to respond to new developments in technology;
  •  are equipped with the confidence and capability to use computing throughout their later life;
  •  develop the understanding of how to use computing safely and responsibly.

IMPLEMENTATION

  • In order to access the modern world, children should have an excellent understanding of a wide range of computing. This begins in the Early Years with access to a range of toys and real-life objects that promote the understanding of technology in the world. In Key Stage 1, children will learn to use a range of programs and have opportunities to write their own. Along with learning specific computing skills, they will also use and apply these across the curriculum. In all classes we make learning to be safe online a priority. Teachers follow the school’s long- term plan to ensure that each class will cover e-Safety and Computer Science, Information Technology and Digital Literacy modules over the two-year cycle. We use Purple Mash to deliver our curriculum.
