INTENT
To ensure all pupils:
- acquire and develop useful skills that provide an ability to remember, repeat and refine actions they can perform with increasing control, coordination and fluency.
- develop competence in a broad range of physical activities.
- are physically active for sustained periods of time.
- engaging in competitive sports and activities.- with themselves and with others.
- able to lead healthy, active lives- mind and body.
IMPLEMENTATION
- We follow the Real PE scheme, developing children’s personal, social, cognitive, creative and physical skills.
- Pupils build fundamental movement skills such as coordination, balance and ball control through varied activities.
- Early Years focusses on enjoyment, active play and developing fine and gross motor skills through daily opportunities.
- Key Stage 1 children receive two PE lessons weekly; including sessions with a qualified sports coach covering dance, gymnastics, and games skills.
- Children take part in a joint sports day, encouraging teamwork, competition, and links with older pupils.
